Location

Nabawa is located approximately 450km north of Perth and is the town centre for the Shire of Chapman Valley. It will host the start and finish line for Backroads and will include the event village.

All riders are responsible for arranging their own travel to and from Nabawa and are encouraged to consider the distance between their accommodation and the event village when planning their trip.

We anticipate that most riders with base themselves in Geraldton, as it is a short 30-minute drive to Nabawa. There are plenty of accommodation and hospitality options so riders will certainly be spoilt for choice.

Travelling by air

If you’d like to travel to the event by air, then you’ll need to board a flight to Geraldton Airport. There is a daily flight service from Perth, taking you only one hour to arrive and saving you the time on the road.

Once you’ve arrived, you’ll need to arrange transport to your accommodation and also to Nabawa where the event will take place. You can do this through contacting one of the local vehicle hire companies, but make sure the vehicle you get has got room for you bike.

Travelling by car

Travelling by car is an excellent option and one that most riders will choose. It’s approximately a 4-hour drive from Perth to Geraldton, and Nabawa is a short 30-minute drive from there.

There are two major highways that can be taken to arrive in Geraldton, one takes you along the coast and showcases the white sand beaches and the other takes you alongside stunning bushland and through historic towns. The route is well sign posted and riders are encouraged to stop and enjoy the journey along the way.

Once you arrive in Geraldton, your next journey will be to the town of Nabawa where the event will officially take place. Nabawa is located 40km north-east of Geraldton and the quickest way to get there is to follow Chapman Valley Road, alongside the Chapman River and right to the town centre.

Travelling by bus

If flying is not for you and you’d prefer someone else to do the driving, you can jump on one of the coach services and head directly for Geraldton. It is approximately a 7-hour journey, but you can choose between an inland or coastal service and enjoy passing through the towns along the way.
